Swayam Siddha members got an opportunity to lead Employee Volunteering activity of DIY Candle making at Marsh India

At Swayam Siddha, we go beyond just providing livelihood support to adults with physical and intellectual challenges from marginalized communities — we are equally committed to fostering a more inclusive mindset in the society.
One way we do this is by ensuring our members participate in immersive experiences — picnics, training sessions, exhibitions — and now, employee volunteering activities with corporates. These engagements help our members gain confidence, ownership, and a sense of belonging in the real world.
For the first time, Swayam Siddha conceptualized and executed its very own 2-hour employee volunteering event at a corporate office. Held at Marsh McLennan India’s Powai office, the session featured a DIY Candle-Making Workshop, led by a 15-member team from Swayam Siddha and attended by 50 Marsh employees.
The event opened on a melodious note with a song rendition by our very own Leena Shah, followed by hands-on candle making where employees crafted beautiful glass jar candles and tea lights in various colours and fragrances — guided by none other than our members themselves!
For our members, this was a rare opportunity to interact on equal terms with professionals from a completely different walk of life. The joy, pride, and self-assurance they came back with is what inclusion is all about.
A big thank you to Ms. Sheetal Zankar, Ms. Priyanka Palande and the CSR Team at Marsh India for hosting us with such warmth and generosity. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us.
We hope this is just the beginning of many such meaningful, inclusive collaborations in the future.
